The Advanced Tag Editor is used to add and edit information of your tracks. You can edit artist, album and title information as well as lyrics and pictures. The Advanced Tag Editor also contains a Filename to tag tool to extract tag information from your filenames and put in your tags.
Working with the Advanced Tag Editor
Tagging tracks is the procedure of adding or updating information for the tracks on your computer. Each type of information you add to track is called a tag field (or just field). Some examples of tag fields follow below:
- Artist
- Album
- Track Number
- Biography
- Lyrics
- Title
The input fields in the Advanced Tag Editor are logically divided into a number of pages, but the layout of these input fields can easily be modified, as can the number of pages.
The Advanced Tag Editor offers many different input controls.
Some fields can be disabled if that field is not supported by the file format. It can also mean that there is no information for this field.
Next to almost all the controls there is a padlock symbol - the padlock is either locked Locked Padlock or unlocked Unlocked Padlock. By clicking the padlock you are able to lock the control. When a control is locked, it's information will remain the same for all files that you continue to tag in this tagging session. To unlock the padlock, click it again.
The control types are all listed and explained below:
- Textual, used for general text input for fields such as title, remix and subtitle. It allows you to enter text as well as to reuse previously entered text. This input field will auto complete any text you enter.
- Numeric, used for years, track numbers and more. Either enter a numeric value manually or change an existing value with the up/down buttons.
- Attached pictures, used for adding one or more pictures to the files tags.
- Biography, used for editing of the artists biography. The editor supports basic formatting.
- Lyrics, used for editing the lyrics for a track. This editor supports basic formatting.
- Multiple comments, used to manage multiple comments. Each comment has a description and content. The content have multiple lines of information.
- Artist/Multiple artists, used to manage a single or multiple artist. Enter text directly in the control for tracks with just one artist. Click the ... button to edit multiple artists.
- Release type, popularity, rating and quality controls works in a similar way. Select the desired value from the drop-down list.
- URL controls, used to enter URLs. Click the right most button to open the URL in your default browser.
- Musician credits/Involved peoples, used to to adjust the persons that have been involved in the production of the track as well as their functions. Click the right most button Edit Musician Credits to open the Musician Credits/Involved Peoples editor.
- BPM, used to enter the Bpm of the current track. Calculate the BPM manually by clicking the Manual button. Calculate it automatically by clicking the Calculate button.
- Genre/label used to editor one or more genres/labels of the track. Click the ... button to manage multiple contents.
Working with templates
The Advanced Tag Editor supports a powerful templating system which allows you to freely customize the number of tabs shown and which controls that should be placed on which tab.
You can also control how many columns of controls each tab shall have and how controls shall span over the columns.
