Album Insights
Album Insights gives you a rich overview of your music collection at a glance. Use it to rediscover forgotten albums, track your listening habits, and explore your library by genre, rating, and play history. There are two separate Album Insights surfaces in Helium: a full-library view and a per-album tab inside Album Details.
Full-Library Album Insights
The full-library Album Insights page gives you a bird’s-eye view of your entire collection. It requires a Premium licence — if you have not activated Premium, a prompt will appear in place of the content.
How to open it:
- Click View in the menu bar.
- Select Insights, then Album Insights.
Alternatively, click the light bulb (Insights) button on the Albums view toolbar.
Spotlight Album
Each time you open Album Insights, Helium highlights a randomly chosen album in the Spotlight card. The card shows the cover art, album name, artist name(s), and release year.
- Click the album name to go to that album’s detail page.
- Click an artist name to open Artist Details for that artist.
- Click the release year to browse all albums from that year.
- Click the favourite icon to mark or unmark the album as a favourite.
- Click Play Now to start playing the album immediately.
- Click Shuffle to pick a different random album for the Spotlight.
KPI Cards
Six tiles give you a quick summary of your library. Most tiles are clickable and take you straight to a filtered view.
- Total Albums — the total number of albums in your library. Click to open the Albums view.
- Never Played — albums you have never listened to. Click to filter the Albums view to unplayed albums.
- Highly Rated — albums rated 4.5 stars or higher. Click to filter the Albums view to those albums.
- Hours Listened — your total listening time across all albums, shown in hours.
- Last 90 Days — albums you have played in the last 90 days. Click to filter the Albums view to those albums.
- Favourites — albums you have marked as a favourite. Click to filter the Albums view to your favourites.
Rediscover
The Rediscover section surfaces six randomly chosen albums from your library, making it easy to revisit music you may have overlooked.
Each card shows:
- Cover art
- Album name
- Artist name(s) with country flag
- Favourite icon and star rating
- An Unplayed badge if you have never listened to that album
- Click a card to open that album’s detail page.
- Click an artist name to open Artist Details for that artist.
- Click Shuffle to load six different albums.
Genre Breakdown
The Genre Breakdown chart displays the top 10 genres across your entire library as proportional bars, so you can see at a glance which genres dominate your collection.
- Click any genre label to open the Genre view filtered to that genre.
Recently Played
The Recently Played section lists up to six albums you have played in the last 90 days, ordered from most recent to oldest. Each row shows the cover art, album name, artist name, country flag, favourite icon, star rating, and a relative timestamp such as “2 hours ago” or “3 days ago”.
- Click any row to open that album’s detail page.
Per-Album Insight Tab
When you select an individual album and open its detail page, you will find an Insight tab. This tab shows statistics and recommendations specific to that one album.
KPI Cards
Six tiles summarise the selected album. These are for reference only and are not clickable.
- Tracks — the number of tracks on the album.
- Total Plays — the all-time play count for the album.
- Duration — the total running time of the album.
- Avg Rating — the average star rating across all rated tracks.
- Favourites — the number of tracks you have marked as a favourite.
- Unplayed — the number of tracks you have never played.
Top Tracks
The Top Tracks chart shows up to six of the album’s most-played tracks as proportional bars. This section only appears once at least one track on the album has been played — if no play history exists, it is hidden.
Genres
All genres found across the album’s tracks are shown as pill badges. Each badge displays the genre name and the number of tracks that carry it.
- Click any badge to open the Genre view for that genre.
Album Review
If a review is available for the album, it is displayed here. Any links within the review open in your default web browser.
Similar Releases
The Similar Releases section shows up to 12 related album cards under the heading Releases You Might Also Enjoy.
- Click a card to open that album’s detail page.
- Click an artist name to open Artist Details for that artist.
- Click Shuffle to load a different selection of related albums.
