Introduction
The Year Insight tab gives you a focused snapshot of your music library for a single release year. Select any year in the Years view, then click the Insights tab in the right panel — Helium loads everything automatically the first time you view it. From there you can explore statistics, discover albums you may have forgotten, and see which artists and genres defined that year in your collection.
Usage
To open Year Insight:
- Open the Years view in Helium.
- Select the year you want to explore.
- Click the Insights tab in the right panel.
Several items in Year Insight are interactive:
- Spotlight album name — opens the Album Details page for that album.
- Spotlight artist name — opens the Artist Details page for that artist.
- Rediscover album cards — click any card to open its Album Details page.
- Rediscover artist names — click an artist name on a card to open their Artist Details page.
- Top Artists chart rows — click any row to open that artist’s detail page.
- Top Genres chart rows — click any row to open the Genres view filtered to that genre.
Spotlight Album
The Spotlight Album highlights one randomly chosen album from the selected year. It displays the album’s cover art, name, and artist. If a release year is available, it is shown beneath the artist name.
To see a different album, click the Shuffle button. Helium picks another random album from the same year, favouring albums that have cover art.
KPI Cards
Six summary tiles appear near the top of the tab. They give you an at-a-glance overview of your collection for the selected year.

| Hours Unlistened | Total duration of tracks you have never played (shown in hours, or in minutes for smaller amounts) |

| Total Plays | Combined all-time play count for every track from this year |
These tiles are for display only and cannot be clicked.
Rediscover
The Rediscover section shows six randomly selected albums from the chosen year as visual cards. It is a great way to revisit albums you may not have listened to in a while.
- Click any album card to open its Album Details page.
- Click an artist name on a card to open their Artist Details page.
- Click Shuffle to replace the six cards with a fresh random selection from the same year.
Top Artists
This horizontal bar chart lists up to ten artists ranked by how many tracks from the selected year appear in your library. The bars are proportional, so the artist with the most tracks always spans the full width.
Click any row to open that artist’s detail page.
Top Genres
This horizontal bar chart lists up to ten genres ranked by track count for the selected year. As with Top Artists, bar widths are proportional to track count.
Click any row to open the Genres view filtered to that genre.
