Helium has support for multiple download plug-ins and Discogs is one of them.

If you are working with CDs that exists in Discogs you can improve the speed and correctness when you are downloading data.

Ripping Audio-CDs using the Discogs plugin

When you will rip a CD using the CD-Ripper, checkmark the setting Options > Always invoke custom download window in CD-Ripper. When this setting is active, the CD-Ripper will bypass the automatic downloading and always display the manual download dialog.

In the dialog that shows up, you can enter either the barcode for the cd (as printed on the sleeve) in the artist field, prefixed with bc: or the catalog number for the CD (also printed on the sleeve) and prefix it with cat:.

Examples

You will rip the CD reflected on the following Discogs page: https://www.discogs.com/release/27846-U96-Club-Bizarre

Enter bc:731452721921 (as printed on the sleeve) in the artist field and press enter.

The Download information dialog will now present only two matches in the left-most list. Select the correct match and then click OK to apply the results to the CD-Rippers track list.

You can also write cat:527219-2 which is the catalog number to perform the search based on catalog number.

Barcodes/catalog numbers can be found on either the CD sleeve or from a webpage on Discogs.

Multiple CDs

If you will download track information for a CD, say CD 2, for an album with two CDs, you can enter cd:x in the album field, where x is the cd you are downloading, e.g. cd:2. When you have included cd: as an argument, the Discogs plugin will only download the tracks from that specific CD.

Tag Editor

The same logic as above can be used when downloading track information from the Tag Editor.

By clicking Download and then Refine, you can enter bc: or cat: in the artist field and cd: in the album field to download precise information.

Album pictures

Downloading of album pictures also supports the bc: or cat: prefix to download a specific album picture.
